It is a common and popular practice to mix different types of food such as meat with cheese and fruits with yogurt. There are many nutritionists and Ayurvedic who claim that there are various food combinations that can hinder your digestive channels and prevent your body from getting the necessary nutrients. Avoiding certain food combinations, helps to improve our health, healing and digestion, a deeper level of nutrition thus benefiting our overall health. However, such food combinations are not based on modern nutritional science. In fact, some of these principles even go against your modern health recommendations. As stated, , if you think this diet works for you and you like the structure of the rules, it probably won’t do you any harm.

Food and water: Drinking water or juice with food is one of the most toxic food combinations. Water dilutes your stomach acids and reduces their effectiveness in breaking down proteins, , and carbohydrates. Drink water before meals as this will make you feel full for a long time. This will prevent you from overeating or diluting your stomach enzymes.

Yogurt and fruit: Yogurt contains a lot of bacteria that work on the sugar present in fruits. This can lead to colds and allergies. To solve this, use unflavored yogurt at room temperature and mix honey and raisins instead of fresh fruit.

Soda and pizza: Soda and pizza are not good for you. This is because pizza has a high fat content and fat is saturated in nature. High saturated fat diets can put you at greater risk of heart disease.

White bread and jam: While a slice of white bread and jam may be your favorite snack for breakfast, it’s definitely not the healthiest. It’s a poor food combination because it’s low in protein and fat, and simple carbs are very high.

Grains with milk and orange juice: Milk contains casein, and orange juice contains acid. They destroy dairy and even the enzymes present in starchy grains. It is advised that you should take fruit juice at least an hour before or after eating cereal.
