Doctors of Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College Meerut Medical College had conducted an experiment on Giloy, in which it was found that Giloy could cure up to 80 percent of the damaged liver of the patient taking Giloy.
Research on Giloy was going on for the last one and a half years under the direction of KK Saxena, Chairman of the Pharmacology Department of Lala Lajpat Rai Medical Meerut Medical College. This research team included Dr. Monica Sharma, Dr. Pinky Vishwakarma, Dr. Nidhi Verma, Dr. Manish Saini and Dr. Vipin Mangal from the Department of Pharmacology. In this research, it was being found out what effect Giloy has on the liver.
This team experimented on rats for 30 days. Giloy reduced the effect of poison on the liver of rats by 80 percent. This team had made five groups of six rats each. In its first stage, the level of enzymes in the liver of rats was checked and after that they were given an injection of carbon dioxide. Which acts as poison for the liver. The discharge from the liver due to this injection also occurs in jaundice and other liver diseases. Then they were given Giloy extract and the level of enzymes in the liver was observed. In this way, Giloy extract was given to different groups of rats for 10 days, 20 days and 30 days and this experiment was conducted on these rats for 30 days. After 30 days, it was found that the liver of the rats who were fed Giloy extract for 30 days was protected by 80 percent, whereas the liver of the rats who were not fed Giloy extract was completely damaged.
Describing this research, Head of Department at Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College, Meerut, Dr. KK Saxena said that preliminary research has yielded miraculous results from Giloy.
